Marvelous Melbourne

Why Melbourne?

In 2004 Melbourne was voted the world's most liveable city and it is also one of the safest. The city is one of the fastest growing and vibrant in the Southern Hemisphere, is recognised as Australia's sporting capital and is also a most culturally diverse city with some of the world's best dining and entertainment.

Gourmet Recommendations

In the lead up to the 51 st ICSB Conference in Melbourne this page is going to highlight the best in eating and entertainment in Melbourne. Members of the Secretariat have been working hard to find the best in taste sensations that can be had when you come to Melbourne in June 2006. Not only that, the restaurants and bars that feature on this page are all making dinner/lunch vouchers available to some lucky conference goers. More on this later but we plan to reward over 10 early registering conference attendees with these vouchers.

The Nudel Bar is located in Bourke Street, near Exhibition Street, and is just a short 10 minute stroll from the Grand Hyatt. Famous for its Laksa Lemak (it has won the best Melbourne Laksa award) your hard working secretariat find it hard to go past the Tom Yum Noodles ($AUD17.80 / $USD13.00 ) and the Macaroni Cheese ($AUD16.80 / $USD12.00).

Your erstwhile workers decided to wash this down with a Barletta Bros Grenache Shiraz from Clare Valley, South Australia ($AUD33 / $USD22.00).

Waiters Restaurant
20 Meyers Place, Melbourne [map]
(03) 9650 1508

Dennis is the proprietor of this great Italian restaurant that was originally established as a haven for waiters once they had finished their shifts in the bars and restaurants around old Melbourne Town. Now it is a restaurant of choice for anyone who likes fresh and flavoursome Italian food served in a busy cosmopolitan atmosphere. There are daily specials and the old favourites.

Lasagna and crepes

Chef Mario Vidic is famous for his great spinach crepes and slow cooked veal and lamb shanks and the pastas are fresh and tasty. Waiters is one of the best and most popular Italian restaurants in town so it is wise to book.

Keep tuning in to this site. We expect to make many more announcements of new restaurants and bars to suit all tastes. K and C
