Barry J. Moltz has been running small businesses with a great deal of success and failure in the USA for 15 years. He co-founded Prairie Angels which invests in local seed stage companies. Barry is also on the Advisory Board of the Angel Capital Association , which is the national professional alliance of angel groups. His first book, “You Need to Be A Little Crazy: The Truth about Starting and Growing Your Business” describes the crazy ups and downs and emotional trials of running a business. It is in its fourth reprint and has been translated into Chinese, Russian, Korean and Thai. Barry has been inducted into the Chicago Entrepreneurship Hall of Fame. In 2001 and 2002 he was chosen as one of the Top 100 people in Chicago's Hi Tech community. He also teaches entrepreneurship at the Illinois Institute of Technology (IIT). David Southwick

David is an Entrepreneur who has enjoyed the success of establishing successful business operations, represented Australian small business overseas at the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC), and had a strong involvement in helping develop Australian Youth. David founded the cosmetics company The Body Collection in 1992 and in February 1999, after six years of successful trading and building the business to an Annual turnover in excess of $6 Million, David sold the Australian rights of The Body Collection to pursue other interests. David is also currently involved in establishing a number of new business ventures including Ice Events, an Event Management and Entertainment business.

•  Kristy Andruszko of PuppyPhat www.puppyphat.com.au Kristy created Puppy Phat as a unique, fun and original pet lifestyle store and she currently has 3 stores and is expanding into franchising.

• Jonathon Barouch of www.fastflowers.com.au Jonathon set up Fastflowers when he was 17 and at school. fastflowers.com is now one of the top online flower businesses in Australia and New Zealand.

• Carolyn Creswell of Carman's Muesli. www.carmansfinefoods.com.au Carolyn started Carmans when she was 18 and Carmans now wholesales muesli, muesli bars and organic honey Australia wide and exports to Asia and the Pacific.

Elevator Pitch Competition

Imagine that you have a great business idea and you need some finance to get the business to start up stage. You have gone into the bank in the city, pressed the elevator button on the ground floor and entered the lift. Just as the elevator doors are about to close one of Melbourne's wealthiest entrepreneurs enters and presses the button for the 80 th floor. You have 3 minutes until the elevator reaches the 80 th floor to convince him or her that your idea is worth their support and money.

Rules:
•  You have a maximum of 3 minutes to sell your idea.
•  You have no electronic aids.

Criteria:
•  Clarity of the concept/product description
•  Viability of the opportunity/market potential
•  The financial deal

Prizes:
First Prize $A1000
Second Prize $A500
Third Prize $A250
Certificates to all finalists.

Process
•  Heats of the Elevator Pitch Competition will be held on Monday 19 th , Tuesday 20 th and Wednesday 21 st . Full details of where and when will be provided to applicants.
•  There will be 8 finalists who will make their final ‘pitch' at the Youth Entrepreneurship Day at 3.30 pm.

Eligibility
To be eligible you must either be:
•  An undergraduate student at university or TAFE; or
•  A school student.
